AWS LAUNCHES MONGODB COMPATIBLE ALTERNATIVE

Last year MongoDB introduced a server-side public licence. In response, AWS have introduced Amazon DocumentDB – a fast, scalable, highly available and fully managed document database service that supports MongoDB workloads. Developers can still use the same MongoDB application code they already use in their MongoDB applications. However, all the underlying infrastructure is now managed by AWS. We’re guessing MongoDB is going to have some choice words to say about this!

AMAZON RDS FOR ORACLE NOW SUPPORTS T3 INSTANCE TYPES

Amazon made an exciting announcement in January when they informed us all that we can now launch T3 instance types when using Amazon RDS for Oracle! Easily scale up to this new instance by modifying your existing DV instance in the AWS Management Console.

INTRODUCING AWS BACKUP

The fully managed backup service promises to make it easy to centralize and automate the back up of data across AWS services in the cloud as well as on premises. Unfortunately, AWS Backup is only available in Ireland right now but keep your eye out, it won’t be long until it hits the rest of the EU!
